Programs that have closed

You’ll still see these in older articles and contractor ads. None of them accept new applications.

  • Canada Greener Homes Grant: Closed. Final document deadline was December 31, 2025. Source
  • Canada Greener Homes Loan: Closed to new applications October 1, 2025; funding fully committed. Source
  • CleanBC standard gas-to-heat-pump rebate (non-income-qualified, outside the North): Ended April 11, 2025. Source

Stacking rules in one minute

  • One primary space-heating rebate per home. FortisBC and CleanBC generally can’t both pay for the same heat pump.
  • The income-qualified program replaces the standard one for the same upgrade. It doesn’t add to it.
  • Bonuses do stack: FortisBC’s two-upgrade bonus ($300, or $350 income-qualified) when you complete a second qualifying upgrade.
  • Different upgrades stack. Windows, insulation, ventilation and a water heater are separate rebates.
  • No rebate can exceed what you actually paid for the work.
  • Federal programs (the coming National Heat Pump Rebate) are designed to stack with provincial ones.

How CANRO helps with the BC rebate programs

CANRO has worked on gas heating in Metro Vancouver homes since 1999, and our founder George is known for boilers and hydronic heating, the systems other companies often won’t touch. When you call, we start with the questions that decide eligibility: how old is the existing equipment, what fuel heats the home, is it your primary residence, and does any part of the household qualify for income-tested rebates.

Then we tell you plainly which rebate fits, what it should pay, and what has to happen before the install. If a program needs an HPCN-listed contractor, we tell you how to verify any installer (including us) on the HPCN directory before you book. Call (604) 359-1081 or email info@canroheat.ca.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Canada Greener Homes Grant still open?
No. The grant closed (final documents were due December 31, 2025) and the loan stopped taking applications October 1, 2025.
How often do BC rebates change?
Several times a year. In 2026 alone, CleanBC amounts changed on July 6 and FortisBC re-introduced dual fuel and income-qualified rebates on October 15.
